Program Description Hello, Welcome to the 2009 edition of the Lebanon Summer Track and Field / Cross Country Camp. I look forward to meeting the new campers and seeing some of my old camper friends and former students back in Lebanon. The camp will run Monday, August 17th – Friday, August 21st from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This year’s edition of the camp should bring back a few traditions and begin a few new ones. The plan right now is to hold some track and field development sessions in the early hours of the camp, and then depart to some of the local running sites for some cross country experience. As always we will finish with our annual ‘track and field decathalon’ on Friday the 21st. August in Connecticut is a tough time to run a running camp. Please bring plenty of sunscreen and lots and lots of water! A good pair of running shoes is a must. No HIGHTOPS or SKETCHERS! Other features planned for this year’s camp include:
I look forward to seeing you in August, Chad Johnson

at Norwich Free Academy. During this time his teams have won three consecutive
Class LL Track and Field State Championships (2004-2005-2006) and have
been runner up three times as well. They are the six-time defending Eastern
Connecticut Conference Champions. Overall, his teams have amassed a dual
meet record of 51-3 and have not lost a meet in the last four seasons.
He is entering his second year as the head boys cross country coach at
Norwich Free Academy. In 2006, the Norwich Free Academy boys team won
the ECC Larde Division Championship. This past spring, his teamqualified
for the Nike //outdoor National Championships in the Distance Medley relay
and 4 x 800 relay. From 2001-2003 he was the head boys and girls cross
country coach at Lyman Memorial High School. During that time period,
the boys team was the two-time Charter Oak Champions and his girls team
won the 2003 Class SS State Cross Country Championship. An avid runner
himself who still competes competitively at the state and New England
levels, he was a two-time state open cross country champion while running
for NFA and finished second in the nation in the two-mile run in 1993
which, at the time, was a state record. He competed at the collegiate
level for the University of Connecticut.
